Book Beginnings on Friday (is back!)

Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme hosted by Becky at Page Turners. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include the title and author so others know what you're reading. If you like, share with everyone why you do, or do not, like the sentence (thanks to Rose City Reader for inspiring this meme).

Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde

This is the second book in the Thursday Next series, which I am really loving. I have to thank my legal support officer for bringing this one to my attention. It has been hours of fun. But lets face it, what else could you expect from a book about a literary detective called Thursday Next with the power to jump in and out of books in an alternate universe in 1985 where people can time travel and dodo's and mammoths roam the earth! In honour of this hilarious book I am going to share the opening paragraph:
"I didn't ask to be a celebrity. I never wanted to appear on the Adrian Lush Show. And let's get one thing straight right now - the world would have to be hurtling toward imminent destruction before I'd agree to do anything as dopey as The Thursday Next Workout Video."
What is there to say about that except to say that that opening paragraph says it all about wonderful this book/series is.

What about you? Leave a link to your Book Beginnings on Friday post in the Mr Linky below.
