Book Beginnings on Friday

Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme hosted by Becky at Page Turners. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include the title and author so others know what you're reading. If you like, share with everyone why you do, or do not, like the sentence. (Thanks to Rose City Reader for inspiring this meme)

The Passage by Justin Cronin

Wow. Great book. So creepy. Seriously creepy. I am totally freaked out when I am reading it. I was so tense on the train this morning. This is a really good book.
"Before she became the girl from Nowhere - the One Who Walked In, the First, Last and Only, who lived a thousand years - She was just a little girl in Iowa, named Amy."
Cool hey?!

That is a great beginning! I am getting more excited about reading this book. The size has been making me hesitate.

That is a sentence that does pull you in to the story, isn't it? Normally books like The Passage are not my cup of tea, but I've heard so many good things about it that I did purchase it. Can't wait to read your review.

Just stopping by from the hop-I was able to watch the 1940 version of Rebecca online and really liked it-I also saw there is a BBC three part program on about the relationship of Rebecca Du Maurier and Gertrude Lawrence (posted on youtube.com)

Kathy - it is big but the writing is pretty easy and I am flying through it.

Suzanne - this is TOTALLY not my kind of thing. Vampires? Supernatural stuff? Nup, give me real life fiction any time. But this is an exception. It feels more like a thriller than a paranormal/vampire book. Dont' let its genre put you off.

Jenners - how good is it!!

Thanks for stopping by everyone else. Give this book a read if you get a chance, its great stuff.

That is a good opening line! Not sure if I could read the book, though, if it's creepy.

Great opening! This one sounds like a really interesting read. The different names given to Amy just leaves me so curious about what happens.
