It's Monday! What are you reading?

It's Monday, what are you reading? is now hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. It is a chance for us to share with other book bloggers what we have just finished reading, what we are currently reading and what we are reading next.

Just finished

I have recently finished two books. The first is Murder on a Midsummer Night by Kerry Greenwood, an Australian crime/mystery novel. It was a wonderful read and I will definitely be looking for more of this author's books. The review will be up in about a week I imagine.

I more recently finished We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shriver. This was the most full on book I have ever read without exception. You can read about my immediate reaction to the book here, and I hope to have a review of it soon.

My review of Lean on Pete by Willy Vlautin is scheduled for 4.30pm AEST today.

Currently Reading

I recently wrote about Peter Temple winning this years Miles Franklin award with his book Truth. Whilst I don't own Truth, I do own a couple of his other books, so in honour of his won I am currently reading An Iron Rose. It is a crime novel, which is not my usual read, but I am quite enjoying it.

I am also reading The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka when I get a chance. I am enjoying it, but it is somehwat unusual and I am not quite sure what to make of it at the moment.

Up Next

I really have no idea at the moment - whatever takes my fancy when I finish An Iron Rose and I stare aimlessly at my bookcase thinking to myself "what will I read next?"

  1. This comment has been removed by the author.

  2. I can't stare at my bookcase to decide what I am going to read next - - I get too excited about picking one out that I end up picking out minimum 5 new books lol. There are too many books out there worth reading!

  3. I have the same feeling this week -- looking aimlessly at my overflowing bookshelves deciding what to read next. We always manage to find something though, don't we?

    Enjoy your week.

  4. I sometimes wonder if our obsession over books and reading can be considered a bad habit lol - I wonder if they have AA-like meetings for them ~ but I can think of worse things to have "problems" with

  5. I haven't heard of An Iron Rose, so I'll be looking out for your review! Hope you like it, and I also hope you find something to read next. :P

  6. Ah, Kafka. It brings back fond memories of my undergrad years. My roommate and I both enjoyed The Metamorphosis. Poor Gregor.

Murder on a Midsummer Night sounds like something I'd like. I haven't read many mysteries lately because I've been concentrating on YA fiction so I'm sure I'm missing out on a lot. Have a great week!

  7. I have to see you reaction to We Need To Talk About Kevin!

I am admiring your blog - I love the header and it is such a crisp and clean layout!

  8. Oh have a wonderful time choosing books for this week. My Monday:

  9. Glad to hear the Kerry Greenwood book was a hit. Good luck choosing your next reads :-)

  10. anxious to hear what your thoughts are about Metamorphosis. I read that a very long time ago (during my intellectual 20 something phase). Anyway have a great week.

  11. I just bought Truth and am excited to read it. I do believe the publisher is submitting it to the Booker Prize judges since it won the Miles Franklin award.

    Happy, happy reading!!

  12. I'm very familiar with that "pondering moment" as I stare at the books I haven't yet read...Hmm, this one or that one?

    Here's my Monday:

  13. Oh, Becky, I got so caught up in my little rant, that I forgot to say thanks for stopping by my blog.
