It's Monday! What are you reading?

It's Monday, what are you reading? is now hosted by Sheila at Book Journey. It is a chance for us to share with other book bloggers what we have just finished reading, what we are currently reading and what we are reading next.

Just finished

I haven't finished anything different to those books that I had finished last week:
The Timeless Land by Eleanor Dark (an Australian classic)
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by JK Rowling, and

I just haven't been able to get into the reading swing of things, which is really disappointing because I have had these 3 weeks of work after my surgery and could have got through so many books!

Currently Reading

After many starts that ended in me giving up the book, I am currently reading The Boat by Nam Le. It is a collection of short stories by an Australian author that has received wonderful reviews. I am enjoying it, and except that I will stick with it, but I am still hardly ever getting around to reading it :-(

Up Next

I hope to read We Need to Talk About Kevin by Lionel Shreiver, however I also need to read Lean on Pete by Willy Vlautin for this month's book club, so I will see what happens.

I hope that no one else is on the reading slump that I am in at the moment.

  1. I hope you are well on your way to being fully mended. You chose some wonderful books to read. I have not heard of the two books you have planned, so I will be looking forward to your reviews. I think everyone eventually needs a break from reading. My Monday: http://www.rundpinne.com/2010/06/its-monday-what-are-you-reading-14-june.html

  4. Sorry to hear you've had a reading slump - it's so annoying when that happens especially when you've had spare time on your hands. But it does happen to even the most dedicated of readers, I think it has something to do with the world reminding us that we cannot have everything we want all the time and we have to be reminded to be grateful. Or something. Anyway, hope you are on your way to a renewed interest in reading.

Thanks for stopping by my blog after seeing my at the Australian Book Bloggers Directory - isn't it a great idea? I am slowly making my way through all the new entries and look forward to connecting more with fellow Aussie bloggers. I think I've seen some of your posts via the Weekly Geeks feed (I recognise your star ratings) but I don't think I realised you were an Aussie before now - that's the problem with only reading posts via my google reader account - I sometimes miss vital information!

  5. I get in reading slumps too - ironically when I have so many books to choose from and I get overwhelmed. It too shall pass.

I hope your recovery continues to go well.

  7. Reading slumps happen to everyone! Sometimes, I'm engrossed in a book, but other things call to me!

    No worries...it will end.

    Hope you enjoy your week.

  9. Ugh! I am in a huge reading slump the last few weeks. I think it has to do with my parents moving in with us and one of my stepdaughters moving in as well. That much extra people really suck up my free time!
